Yuki marked the time in the old way at first—diurnal cycles logged in the Kusanagi's systems, sleep periods and waking periods, the circadian architecture that human bodies demanded regardless of how far those bodies had traveled from the star that had shaped their rhythms. She ate. She ran diagnostics. She maintained the medical bay's equipment with the same meticulous attention she had always given it, cleaning surfaces that were already clean, calibrating instruments that were already calibrated.
